What is Document Camera ?

Document Camera
Technology has simplified every aspect of our lives such as daily household chores, businesses, commercial requirements and other needs. The importance of technology can be witnessed everywhere. Document Camera is one such technological gift for teachers, trainers and presenters.

Document Cameras are high resolution digital web cams with the real time image capturing facility to project and magnify three-dimensional objects, transparencies, drawings and much more to a larger audience. They are mounted on arms allowing teachers, trainers and presenters to write on a piece of paper or to display a 2D or 3D object while the audiences see it live. Other names of Document Cameras are visual presenters, digital visualizers, and digital visualisers. It works in conjunction with video projector or TV monitor and computer. Most document cameras have a flexible gooseneck design while few are capable of high-definition display.

Digital Document Camera has some amazing features to add interactivity to your classroom, training room, events and conferences. From my practical experience, the most important feature of document camera is its ability to zoom in or zoom out. This feature allows you to zoom any kind of text, graphics, and objects. Even the tiniest characteristics which cannot be seen by nude eye can be enlarged and shown to audience for teaching, training and discussion. Apart from this, you can capture real time image of the object in the computer as JPEGs through USB interface and use these images to make your PowerPoint presentations more realistic. Some document cameras have LED backlight for showing transparencies, X-rays, or slides in negative or positive mode.
